Cable vet Laureen Ong is stepping down from Scripps Networks Interactive's Travel Channel at the end of the month after more than three years as president.
Scripps Networks' prexy Burton Jablin will oversee the cabler until a successor to Ong is named.
Anthony Bourdain end on a sour note last year.
"With Laureen Ong at the helm, Travel Channel has made great strides toward redefining travel as a television genre and establishing Travel Channel as a premier lifestyle television brand," Jablin said. "Laureen provided the right leadership at the right time that was needed to move Travel Channel in a new direction to enhance its value to media consumers, advertisers and content distributors."
Before Travel, Ong was chief operating officer of Hong Kong-based Star Group Ltd. She was also founding prexy of National Geographic Channel.
