There may be an angry voice mail or three this morning at Comedy Central from some of its fellow media companies after last night's episode of "South Park."
The animated satire went to town on a number of well-known brands who may not be laughing along with the audience.
Then there's Time Warner Cable, which isn't actually referenced in the episode by name but the logos on the shirts of the sadomasochistic cable-company employees depicted in the episodes sure look familiar. Those shirts are also drawn to have flaps that descend to reveal the employee's nipples, which they rub ecstatically as various "South Park" characters complain to them about everything from the inability to pick cable channels a la carte to the incredibly long waiting times for service repair.
Those are just two of the biggest targets in a media-soaked episode that references everything from videogame 'Minecraft' to Jaden Smith. It's far from the first time Matt Stone and Trey Parker have taken on media-business targets, but let's hope they at least gave the affiliate relations team at Comedy Central parent company a heads up to expect some flak.
