"The Holiday" scribe Nancy Meyers
has stepped off an untitled comedy she had written and planned to direct for Sony
Sources close to the project say the film wasn't coming together the way everyone had hoped, including discussions about potential casting and budget.
Sony will continue developing the project, which focuses on an American woman whose life turns upside down when she begins a relationship with a younger British man.
Pic was set to feature an almost entirely British cast with plans to lens in the U.K.
Project was set up with Matt Tolmach
producing along with Meyers, who did a rewrite on a script originally penned by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber.
