MGM and Sony
have released a new trailer replete with special effects for their remake of "Carrie," with Chloe Grace Moretz
starring as the bullied teen girl.
"What if you realized you had the power to change everything?" asks the trailer amid several shots of levitated objects in the wake of a scene where her mother (Julianne Moore
) locks her in a closet.
Directed by Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry") and scripted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, story centers on a shy high-school student who uses her newly discovered telekinetic powers to exact revenge on her classmates. Sony has set an Oct. 18 opening for "Carrie," which also stars Gabrielle Wilde, Judy Greer and Alex Russell.
Based on a Stephen King
novel, the 1976 original was directed by Brian De Palma and starred Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie and John Travolta
in his first major role.
