Armory/Benderspinkweiner has come on board to develop a feature-film adaptation of Hasraf Dullal's short sci-fi film "Project Kronos."

Dullal, who worked as a VFX supervisor on "The Dark Knight," "Hellboy 2" and the mini-series "The Bible," will direct from his own screenplay. Shot as a faux-documentary, Dullal's 14-minute short chronicles a space agency of the near future's first contact with extraterrestrial beings and the mysterious repercussions of the encounter.

Producers are Chris Lemole and Tim Zajaros of Armory Films, Chris Bender, JC Spink & Jake Weiner of Benderspink and Scott Glassgold and Raymond Brothers of IAM Entertainment. Glassgold and Brothers developed and produced the original short film, which debuted earlier this year.

Armory/Benderspinkweiner is planning an early 2014 start date for the production and is underwriting the project via its recently established film fund.

Benderspink's comedy "We're the Millers" opens Aug. 7. It recently set up "Criminal" with Millennium Films.
