American Heritage won its sixth FHSAA softball state championship, tying Miami Gulliver Prep for third most in Florida high school history. St. Thomas Aquinas repeated as Class 7A state champion, winning back-to-back state titles as it last did in 2002-03. And Pembroke Pines Charter won its second 6A state championship in its third consecutive appearance in the final.

Cypress Bay (8A) and Grandview Prep (2A) lost in the state semifinals, and several other teams from Broward and Palm Beach counties came up just short of reaching that point.
