Authorities say Andrew Jason Hasty was boating on the Trout River in Duval County on Mar. 26 when he came upon a closed railroad drawbridge.

Hasty got impatient and took matters into his own hands.

The 27-year-old Lake Forest man is accused of climbing up on the bridge, breaking into the unmanned bridge-tender's building and activating the controls to open the span. After which he re-boarded his boat and passed through, reports The Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville.

But he made a strategic error: He left the span open.

Luckily, a CSXtrain heading toward the open bridge was able to stop in time.

Some people burn their bridges, others simply leave them wide open.
