Broward General Medical Center has provided services to Fort Lauderdale since 1938. A staple of the community, the hospital contains several centers, including ones for joint replacements, sleep disorders, cancer and stroke. It has an international center to put foreign patients at ease during their stay. At the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital at Broward General, children can be treated for everything from hearing loss to sickle cell disease. There is also a hospital school for children who have to stay extended periods of time to ensure they do not fall behind.
