Operation Tipster locates 10 sex offenders, 26 still unaccounted for

Police have located or arrested 10 sex offenders wanted for violating Indiana's sexual offender registration law thanks to a new initiative.

Police have located or arrested 10 sex offenders wanted for violating Indiana's sexual offender registration law thanks to a new initiative.

Operation Tipster is a two-week program designed to locate 36 sex offenders who police said have failed to register. Police have offered anyone with information on the whereabouts of the offenders have been offered rewards of up to $1,000.

There are still 26 offenders unaccounted for. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.

Nearly 9,000 sex offenders live in Indiana. About 1,400 sex offenders live in Marion County.
