Brian McDonough has been named President/General Manager of KY3, Inc. in Springfield, Missouri.
    McDonough, a broadcast veteran, joins KY3 from co-owned KWCH in Wichita, Kansas and will assume his new duties April 1.
    McDonough’s responsibilities, said Marci Burdick, senior vice-president broadcasting for Schurz Communications, will include leading KY3 (NBC), The Ozarks CW, 24/7 Weather, and management of Perkin-owned  KSPR-TV (ABC).
   “I am honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to lead such a dynamic, innovative and dominant operation,” McDonough said. “What has been built over the years by the employees of KY3 Inc. is truly remarkable. I have big shoes to fill and am anxiously looking forward to the challenge. ”
    McDonough earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1987 from Wichita State University, and was promoted through the ranks at a number of Wichita stations. He held the position of General Manager at three different media companies before joining Schurz in 2006. Since then, he has successfully directed all sales operations for the six Sunflower TV stations and four websites.
    He also has a long history of community involvement and dedication to charitable organizations. Over the years he has been a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA, and a Trustee for the Mid-America Council of Boy Scouts of America.
    “Brian McDonough is a strong and focused leader with a proven track record of building successful employee teams,” Burdick commented. “Coming from within Schurz Communications, he shares our values of strong service to customers, viewers and community.  And, as a Midwesterner, he is well familiar with the Ozarks and a frequent visitor to the region.”
    McDonough and his wife, Keli, are the parents of two boys.
    McDonough succeeds Mike Scott, who is retiring after 21 years with KY3, 15 years as President/General Manager. Scott will be stepping into a corporate consultative role as Director of  Programming for KY3 parent company, Schurz Communications.
