South Chicago on Sunday saw Chicago's first double homicide of the year, according to a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data.
Two men, ages 18 and 35, were shot to death in the 9100 block of South Commercial Avenue, officials said.
Chicago logged 11 double homicides last year, down from 24 double homicides in 2012, according to RedEye data.
In the last week, gunshot homicides were recorded in Austin, Chatham, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, Portage Park and South Lawndale, RedEye determined.
Fifteen homicides have been logged so far this year. Forty-four homicides were recorded in January 2013, RedEye found.
