Philip Giordano is perhaps the most reviled person to ever disgrace a public office in Connecticut. He is currently serving a 37-year prison term for sexually abusing two young girls while he was mayor of Waterbury. John Rowland to ask Giordano to resign. After serving as a state representative, Giordano took office as the city¿s 43rd mayor in January, 1996. He was re-elected twice. A lawyer and former U.S. Marine, Giordano ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 2000, losing to incumbent Joseph Lieberman.
