Rich Crotty is the Republican mayor of Orange County, a post previously known as county chairman. Voters approved the title change in 2004. Before becoming mayor, Crotty was elected and served as Orange County Property Appraiser. For many years before that, he served Central Florida in the state Legislature. In 2000, former county Chairman Mel Martinez left office to fill an appointment in then President-elect Bush's Cabinet. Florida Gov.
