Gingrich: Inside look at a paradoxical politician
One of my favorite activities this primary season is to read the seemingly endless analyses of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. The profiles run the gamut from glowing to scathing; just about every Washington pundit has a strong opinion of "Mr....Tags: Newt Gingrich, Bill Clinton, Mitt Romney, Elections

Prince of Darkness defends First Lady, supports same-sex marriage
The only GOP lawmaker to support same-sex marriage so far is Sen. Allan Kittleman, of Howard County, but some influential Republican Marylanders are beginning to weigh in. Governor Craig? Maybe it's no longer out of the question
Let me start out by saying that although I've known him for some 36 years and consider him to be one of the whip-smartest people in my sphere of acquaintances, I never considered David Craig gubernatorial material. That was until last week, when I...Tags: Regional Authority, Harford County, Democratic Party, Finance, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend

Missing Maryland's 'Voice of Reason'
The thought of Ron Smith leaving us so soon is still difficult to fathom. Up to and including his last show on Nov. 28, he was as entertaining, opinionated and combative as ever. He was the self-proclaimed "Voice of Reason," firmly entrenched in the...Tags: William Donald Schaefer, Talk Show (genre)

Cut 1 of 36
In the not so distant aftermath of the most recent penny per dollar increase in state sales tax and any number of hikes in fees prior to that, a new gas tax, or any other state tax increase this year, is an insult to the people of Maryland. Since... -
Was Bob Ehrlich the best The Sun could find?
Bob Ehrlich says conservatives deserve a voice in "Maryland's largest newspaper." ("Ehrlich and The Sun: Once enemies, now partners," Jan. 28.) Yet when he was governor, Mr. Ehrlich saw fit to restrict the access of that same newspaper to the state... -
Former Governor Ehrlich will be a poor substitute for Ron Smith
I agree with letter writer Marian Argentino, who is appalled that former Gov. Robert Ehrlich is to inherit Ron Smith's column in The Sun ("Ehrlich is no replacement for Ron Smith," Jan. 27). Mr. Ehrlich will forever be associated with suppressing the...Tags: Executive Branch, Government, Elections

Ehrlich and The Sun: Once adversaries, now partners
Yes, you read it right. No, it's not April Fool's. But it is a new day for The Sun and the Ehrlichs.
