  5. Rick Scott to voters: Never mind

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Republican Gov. Rick Scott was one of those tea party stars whom voters believed had the courage of his convictions when he promised, as recently as last summer, to block The Affordable Care Act in his state. But last week, writes the Orlando Sentinel, "Scott made an abrupt about-face, embracing a three-year expansion of Medicaid coverage for about 1 million low-income Floridians that will be paid for by the health care law."

  11. What Trayvon Martin case has in common with Shomrim case - and what it doesn't

As outrage grows across the country about the shooting of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin in Florida, a Baltimore case with some similar themes could come back into the spotlight this week: the trial of two members of a community patrol organization in Northwest Baltimore accused of assaulting a black teenager.

  23. Today's Buzz: Rick Scott: The comeback kid?

A Quinnipiac University poll released this week showed that Gov. Rick Scott’s job performance ratings with voters have pulled to nearly even, with 43 percent rating him favorably and 44 percent unfavorably. That’s a high-water mark for Scott. It’s also a big improvement from his 36 percent favorable, 49 percent unfavorable numbers in March, and followed a legislative session in which Scott pushed through raises for teachers without raising taxes and boosted funding for Everglades restoration and higher education. But the same poll also showed that voters still oppose his re-election 50-35, and he would lose either to Charlie Crist or Bill Nelson.  Do you think Scott’s gains with voters will continue, and culminate in his re-election? Or do you think he won’t be able to build on his latest gains enough to win next year? Talk about it!
