Wrong to blame GOP for showdown
What a joke your editorial regarding pending federal budget cuts is ("The GOP sequester," Feb. 22). Do you not research information anymore, or do you just call up some liberal Democrats for advice? Maybe you're just blind and believe anything that...
  • Sequestration: How we got here

    Sequestration: How we got here
Sequestration is an extremely crude way to cut approximately 2 percent of federal spending. It is analogous to forcing a grossly obese person to lose a few pounds by not feeding him for a few days. On this issue, at least, it appears that Republicans...

Republican Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett, who has represented Maryland's 6th District for nearly two decades, lost his bid for an 11th term Tuesday to a Democratic businessman who cast the closely watched race as a battle of different economic visions for the...
  • No matter who wins, Congressional leaders should step down

    Can Obama sell 'chained CPI'?
President Barack Obama didn't release his proposed budget for 2014 until Wednesday, but liberals and the AARP have been howling all week about something they expected to be in it. What has our president done to provoke such outrage among his supporters?...
  • Sun lavishes attention on bumbling 'Occupy,' ignores effective tea party

Let me get this straight: a spontaneous movement arises and takes up the name "Tea Party" based on historical actions and the acronym "taxed enough already," amasses a very large number of either followers or sympathizers, and literally reverses the party...
  • Obama wakes the conservative 'bear'

    Obama wakes the conservative 'bear'
"You woke thebears! Why did you do that?" That's from one of my favorite scenes in "Anchorman." In the Oscar-robbed film, Ron Burgundy (played by Will Ferrell) loudly leaps into a bear pit to rescue his girlfriend and then falsely blames her for waking...

Dramatic win caps off well-attended Preakness
The largest crowd in Preakness Stakes history watched the thrilling victory of a horse that's now on a Triple Crown hunt, jammed to pop band Maroon 5 and basked under a Saturday sky whose only clouds were the wispy letters of an advertisement sprayed from...

Weiner admits what we already knew: He sent the tweet
On Friday, I wrote a post entitled "The evidence is clear: Weiner sent the tweet."  "Let me start this post by saying something that has now become quite clear: U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner's (D-N.Y.) Twitter account was not hacked," I wrote. "He sent the...
