At 125 years old, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company is older than the City of Aberdeen, which was first a town and became a city.

When the fire company started, the forgettable Benjamin Harrison was president. He was the 23rd president and the grandson of William Henry Harrison, the ninth president.

Orville and Wilbur Wright were just brothers living in Ohio. They had yet to do accomplish anything worthy – specifically, introducing mankind to flight – as pointed out in the recent biography of them by noted historian David McCullough.

The automobile era was still more than a decade away from really rolling with Henry Ford's mass produced vehicles.
