"Cub Scouts No. 974 Hold Essay Contest: Cub Scout Pack No. 974 recently held an essay contest on 'What The Cub Scouts Mean To Me.' The contest was judged by The Reverend Gerald L. Bell of Mt. Hebron Presbyterian Church.

"The winner of the contest, David Hafele, said of the Scouts 'It makes a man out of you,' while Brent Dunderlin, who took second place feels that 'Scouting helps to bridge the generation gap.'
