Second top Republican resigns from Missouri Legislature

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. The Missouri Legislature's 2016 session will begin with new Republicans at the helm of both chambers after Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey announced his resignation Friday. But Senate Majority Leader Ron Richard, R-Joplin, believes new leadership could be a good thing. "I think it gives us new opportunities and new ways to form partnerships," said Richard, who plans to seek Dempsey's position. "I see a greater effort and a greater success."
