Lavinia Alexander, the Baltimore City clerk of circuit courts who took over that post in 2015 after the death of longtime clerk Frank M. Conaway Jr., died Tuesday of a heart attack Tuesday at Sinai Hospital. She was 62.
"We are profoundly saddened by the untimely death of our clerk of court," said W. Michel Pierson, administrative judge for the Circuit Court.
Alexander had been chief deputy clerk before being appointed to fill the seat left by Conaway, a prominent figure in Baltimore who described himself as the "godfather" of African-American politics in the city.
