Stop Cuban welfare checks

Regarding the article, "U.S. welfare flows to Cuba" (Oct. 1), it appears that our current representatives in Washington are aware of this problem yet I see no indication that anything is being done to stop it.

It seems that under the 1966 Cuban Adjustment Act, anyone coming from Cuba is assumed to be a political refugee and immediately eligible for welfare, food stamps, Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income, cash assistance for impoverished seniors and disabled younger people.
