Controller says Hertz owes Pittsburgh county $1.8M in taxes

Hertz owes a western Pennsylvania county $1.8 million in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties from rental cars at Pittsburgh International Airport, the Allegheny County Controller's Office says. The most recent figure is several hundred thousand dollars more than originally estimated in April when Controller Chelsa Wagner said Hertz underpaid the county about $1.4 million by directing the proceeds of a $2-a-day rental tax to the state. The updated figure reflects an audit of Hertz's taxes from January 2008 to April 2010.
