Aurora post office could be named for longtime mail carrier

Federal legislation to name a suburban Chicago post office after a longtime mail carrier is on its way to President Obama's desk.

U.S. Rep. Bill Foster said Friday that both houses of Congress have approved a measure to name a U.S. Post Office facility in Aurora after Kenneth M. Christy.

Christy was a letter carrier for the Aurora post office for more than 35 years. He also served as clerk of Aurora Township and was president of the Illinois State Association of Letter Carriers.

He died unexpectedly in March.

Foster introduced the legislation in April, and it had the backing of Illinois' full congressional delegation.
