Editor's Desk: Many reporters started great careers at The Capital

While rummaging through my desk recently, I came across a box of 380 index cards with the names and pay of the people I had hired. Flipping through the cards gave me a chance to reflect on many of the great writers who have passed through here on their way to stellar careers. Many reporters went from here to The Baltimore Sun, Rocky Mountain News in Denver, The Boston Globe and even The New York Times. Occasionally a reporter himself was a celebrity, like our intern Bobby Shriver - son of Eunice and Sargent Shriver and nephew of Robert and Jack Kennedy.
