Violin recital set July 29 to benefit Cross in the Woods Endowment Fund
Gloria Kitto Lewis (July 27, 2012)
They will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Adagio in E Major KV 216; Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in d minor RV 514 for Two Violins; and Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in d minor.
Lewis and the musicians who will join her -- Gabe Bolkosky, violinist, and Lydia Qiu, collaborative pianist -- are all active as performers around the world and as supporters of the arts. Each year, Lewis presents solo recitals and concerts with the Ann Arbor Camerata mainly in Michigan and in Florence, Italy. She carries on an active music ministry at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Ann Arbor, and in the summer at Cross in the Woods, Indian River. As a retired member of the English department of Wayne State University, she continues her interdisciplinary studies of American arts.
Bolkosky presents recitals and releases CDs of classical, contemporary and non-traditional works. He directs Phoenixfest! as well as Phoenixfest Grande!, two amateur chamber music festivals in Ann Arbor, and serves as the executive director of The Phoenix Ensemble, a resource for artists and educational institutions.
Qiu is the coordinator of Accompanying Services at The University of Michigan. She also works as a vocal coach and a collaborative pianist. Qiu came to the United States from Chengdu, China, in 1996, and returns each year to China to teach master classes.
Admission is free to the July 29 concert. Goodwill contributions to the Cross in the Woods Endowment Fund are requested.
