Petoskey High School Student of the Month
Nikki Schlueter (September 27, 2013)
Nikki is the daughter of Michelle and Tom Schlueter, and her sister, Cyndee, is a fellow PHS student.
Nikki was chosen to receive this first recognition of the 2013-2014 school year because she embodies the positive attitude, work ethic and considerate treatment of others that makes Petoskey High School a special place for everyone.
When asked to describe Nikki, her teachers cannot say enough about her. Patrick Ryan describes her as a hard worker and great sectional leader. Jamie Buchanan and Christopher Jorgensen both appreciate her positive attitude and constant smile. According to Glen Young, "She willingly leads discussion and regularly encourages her classmates to participate actively."
Even last year, Nikki's positive personality had become noticed by students and staff, as she twice received a Caught Being Kind award for going out of her way to help others.
When asked what she enjoys most about high school, Nikki said she enjoys being around her friends and truly enjoys learning.
On top of a college prep schedule, Nikki is involved in band, soccer, is a member of the National Honor Society, and serves as a freshmen mentor.
After high school, Nikki hopes to attend the University of Michigan and pursue a degree in psychology. In her free time she likes to play soccer and enjoys spending time with her family.
