BOYNE CITY -- A big name in country music will perform in Boyne City this Sunday, Sept. 23, in two concerts benefitting the city's fire department.
The annual benefit concert, which has brought notable country musicians to Boyne for more than 25 years, should raise about $30,000 for the fire department.
The venue can seat 600 and there are still plenty of tickets that will be available at the door, said event organizer Jerry Petty.
Dean has had a long career as a country musician. He has released 12 albums and 11 top-10 singles over a period spanning 18 years.
Also, he won the Academy of Country Music's song of the year for "Somewhere In My Broken Heart," was Academy of Country Music new male vocalist of the year and won a Grammy for a country tribute, "Amazing Grace."
Tickets are $22 each or $50 for a family and can be purchased at the door, or by calling (231) 225-0275.
