Boyne City High School announces 2013 valedictorian and salutatorian

Margaret earned a final grade point average of 4.027 and participated in the National Honor Society, marching band, concert band, soccer, cross country, ski team, pride team, robotics, drama and was student council president. Margaret, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Durbin, plans to attend Michigan State University to pursue a degree in mathematics and science.
"If we take each day, each choice, and each moment on its own, life becomes less frightening," said Margaret during her speech. "Instead, each step becomes part of the whole in a long luxurious adventure."
David earned a final grade point average of 3.96 and participated in the National Honor Society, marching band, concert band, jazz band, baseball, pride team, quiz bowl, robotics and drama. David, the son of Gordon and Debbie Rushlow, plans to attend Michigan Technological University to study mechanical engineering.
"Through hard work, a good attitude and dedication, you can achieve your dreams," said David. "The new world we are about to enter is vast, but I have no fear because I feel that our class of 2013 is prepared."
