ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard is advising people to be careful in Lake Michigan as a cold front moving into the region could bring high waves and dangerous rip currents.
A beach hazards statement is in effect Friday in Michigan up and down the Lake Michigan coast, from Manistee to St. Joseph. Petty Officer 1st Class Randy Williams says it may be best to stay out of the water.
The National Weather Service says wind gusts could reach 30 mph. The agency says it's critical that swimmers know the risks.
