The Bazaar of the Churches will be held on Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lisbon Fire Hall. The participating churches include Lisbon United Methodist, Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran and St. Paul's Episcopal.
Items that will be available to purchase include crafts, gifts, homemade candies, baked goods, nuts and cheese balls. There will also be a silent auction.
Lunch will also be available to purchase and will be served by the Lisbon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
On a personal note, I can tell you that the candy made by the ladies from Lisbon United Methodist are the most delicious candy you will ever eat; so you might want to visit the bazaar to buy a sample of their candy. The fire hall is located at 1330 Woodbine Road (Route 94) just south of the Route 144 traffic circle.
I'm not sure how often you visit the lakefront in Columbia, but it is being revitalized. Howard County Executive Ken Ulman is joining forces with the Howard Hughes Corp. and Clyde's of Columbia to update Clyde's lakefront restaurant in conjunction with the Whole Foods Market that will be occupying the former Rouse Co. Headquarters building.
I can only hope that everyone survived Sandy without little or no damage. I guess I should consider myself lucky that the 40-foot tree that came down in my yard was away from any of the buildings. I'm hoping to hear from the county that they're going to provide some kind of curb service to take trees away. If I hear anything, I'll pass that information to you as soon as possible.
