Alex & Sierra sing 'Say Something' on 'The X Factor'. Simon Cowell said it was his favorite performance for the season.
Alex & Sierra had a marvelous Wednesday on "The X Factor." They had an even better Thursday.
The Central Florida duo went to No. 1 on the iTunes chart with their cover of "Say Something," which they performed on Wednesday's show.
Alex Kinsey, 22, of New Smyrna Beach and Sierra Deaton, 22, of Winter Springs also survived to next week on the Fox singing contest. They are one of four remaining acts in results announced Thursday. The winner will be named Dec. 19.
On Wednesday's show, the four mentors gave Alex & Sierra a standing ovation for "Say Something."Mentor Simon Cowell said it was not only the best performance of the night but his favorite performance of the entire season. "It was outstanding, it was beautiful, sincere, fantastic," Cowell said.
Earlier in Wednesday's episode, Alex & Sierra performed Destiny's Child's "Say My Name" in front of Kelly Rowland, a member of that group.
"I was really shocked, but you guys really actually pulled that off," Rowland told them.
The first ejection Thursday was a real shock: Ellona Santiago, who was considered a favorite. The second ejection was Rion Paige. Both girls were mentored by Demi Lovato, who no longer has a singer in the contest.
Besides Alex & Sierra, the remaining acts are Jeff Gutt, who is mentored by Rowland; Carlito Olivero, who is mentored by Paulina Rubio; and Restless Road, another group overseen by Cowell.
