UCF men’s basketball team now has NBA experience on its bench this season. Prior to the start of the season, Brendan Suhr and Tim Thomas switched roles on the staff.

Suhr, who won NBA titles as an assistant with the Detroit Pistons in 1988-89 and 1989-90, spent over 25 years as a coach and executive in the NBA. He worked under Hall of Fame coaches Chuck Daly, Hubie Brown and Lenny Wilkens and spent time with the New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets and Atlanta Hawks.

Previously, Suhr served as the director of program development and as a special assistant to the head coach. In that role, he was not able to coach on the floor or to recruit. Thomas will now take over as a special assistant to the head caoch, and Suhr moves to the bench, where he can add his valuable experience.

Thomas is in his third season at UCF after working under Jones as the director of operations at Marshall.
