UCF will extend its tailgating time by one hour for the South Carolina game on Sept. 28, opening lots at 7 a.m.

Traditionally the parking lots open at 8 a.m. for noon kickoffs. Knights fans had taken to social media to encourage the school to reconsider the start time.

UCF students, meanwhile, could be turned away from the gates if they arrive at Bright House Networks Stadium too late. The school eliminated its lottery ticket system this year, instead allowing entry to any student with a UCF student ID.

The move was made to permit students to attend the game and sit in general assignment areas if the student section sold out. That occured in the Akron opener on Aug. 29, when an overflow student section created a boisterous atmosphere against the Zips.

With No. 12 South Carolina visiting, however, UCF is anticipating a sell out, capping the student section at 12,000.

In order to avoid a back-up of students on game day, UCF is offering early entry passes to students on Friday, Sept. 27. The athletics department will hand out 1,000 early-entry passes at the women's soccer match vs. USF at 6 p.m. and another 1,000 passes at the volleyball match vs. USF at 8 p.m.

Those early-entry pass-holders will be allowed to enter Bright House at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The student section will open at 10 a.m., two hours before kickoff, to provide students extra time to enter the stadium.

Student section leaders are encouraging fans to wear gold as part of a "Gold Rush" theme for the game.
