Orlando Sentinel's Paul Tenorio talks with FOX35 about UCF heading to the Fiesta Bowl.

UCF basketball coach Donnie Jones purchased six tickets to the Fiesta Bowl as a donation to the program.

The Knights hoops team will play defending national champion Louisville on Dec. 31 at CFE Arena. In the midst of conference play, Jones obviously will not be able to attend 15th-ranked UCF’s Bowl Championship Series game game against No. 6 Baylor in Glendale, Ariz.

However, Jones bought the six tickets in support of the football team and its American Athletic Conference championship.

UCF basketball is off to a 5-3 start this season. The football team will be honored at the Knights’ next basketball home game on Dec. 17 against Jacksonville. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

UCF hoops in the middle of seven consecutive home games, having won its first two over Stetson and Howard. UCF football will return to facilities on Monday to begin preparation for Baylor and the Fiesta Bowl. The Knights will resume practice on Tuesday.
