Wasn't it Gordon Lightfoot who sang about when "the skies of November turn gloomy?" In recent weeks, as we head toward winter, the Atlantic has made a noticeable change --from the warm waters and endless-summer afternoons on Central Florida's east coast beaches-- to the classic autumn scenes of churned up surf and strong winds, sand-blasting the occasional pedestrian under chilly gray skies. A recent photo safari to a quiet stretch of north Volusia yielded this series of black-and-white images of shore birds on a drizzly day.
