It's becoming like a daily roll-call lately. Part of the routine for Orlando Jones High head football coach Kenard Lang, who sends out text messages each time star defensive end Devin Washington receives a college scholarship offer.

"That's what happens when you got the grades and you're a good kid, from a good family," Lang said. "People notice."

They also notice he can play football. That's why in the past two days, Illinois and Mississippi have come calling with scholarship offers, bringing the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder's offer total to five with UCF, FIU and CIncinnati also onboard.

"Two more," Washington said Wednesday night, his voiced sounding somewhat in disbelief. "It's exciting. I really wasn’t expecting it. I woke up this morning and the Ole Miss offer was there. Coach (Mike) Kiffin sent me a message on Facebook and said they offered. Then I went to UCF-Marshall game. I enjoyed game. It was a great atmosphere at UCF ... and I got another message during the game that Illinois had offered ... It's a blessing for me and I just hope for more in the future."

There should be plenty more to come. Washington is currently the No. 36 player in the Sentinel's Florida Top 100.
