Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew isn't a name generally associated with trouble. And that is what makes this latest report about Drew all the more puzzling.
Fantasy football juggernaut Maurice Jones-Drew has been charged with misdemeanor battery connected with an altercation at a St. Augustine restaurant Sunday night, reports the Florida Times-Union.
The St. Augustine Police Department said Jones-Drew struck a security guard on the left cheek, “knocking him out,” during an altercation at the Conch House Restaurant and Marina. Police say Jones-Drew left the scene before they arrived.
The security guard was hospitalized after the attack. Doctors found a bone bruise, but no broken bones.
The Jaguars released a statement this afternoon: “We are aware of the situation regarding Maurice Jones-Drew and are in the process of gathering more information. Due to this being a legal matter, we'll have no further comment at this time.”
