The Friday before April 15 rolls around offers something a lot less taxing. In fact, the North American release of Nintendo’s “Disney Magical World” on April 11 might be a fun pre-tax-refund purchase for many gaming fans – or maybe a needed distraction for those of you who have to mail a check to Uncle Sam the following week.
Honestly, though, most Disney gaming fans probably won’t need an excuse to pick up a copy of the eagerly awaited Nintendo 3DS game title that originally came out in Japan in 2013.
“Disney Magical World” will allow players to create special Disney-themed avatars and interact with an array of Disney characters (more than 60). Players will be able to take part in various battles, games and even sports as part of the game play, and they’ll even get a chance to manage a café in the virtural world that’s featured, too. Card collecting and Nintendo’s StreetPass feature also will be part of the gaming experience of “Disney Magical World,” as well.

Ads already have appeared online, featuring G Hannelius, star of the Disney Channel sitcom “Dog With a Blog.” She and Cole Pendery (of boy band IM5) filmed a promo for the game at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District in March.

In addition to the game, itself, being released April 11, on the same day Nintendo also will be releasing an exclusive handheld 3DS XL, which will be sold exclusively at Walmart. The unit features gold and matte white Mickey-shapped bubbles on the cover and can be preordered for $199.96. Note that the handheld device doesn’t come with the game.
Also, GameStop will sell a Disney-themed Peach Pink 2DS system that will come with a “Disney Magical World” carry case. It will sell for $129.99.
