W.T. Bland Public Library in Mount Dora will present Reading Romance Expo, which will celebrate Florida romance authors and their books, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the library, 1995 N. Donnelly St.

Contemporary, historical, inspirational, paranormal, gothic suspense, urban fantasy and regency romance novels will be featured by 20 authors, who will have books available for purchase and signing.

Participants can meet the authors during the free event, sponsored by the Mount Dora Library Association, the W. T. Bland Public Library and the Lake County Library System.

The event is designed to bring exposure to local talent and nurture the pursuit of the writing arts in Central Florida.

There will drawings for signed copies of books by the authors at the expo, gift certificates and more.

Theater happenings

• "All Shook Up," a musical comedy inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, has been held over at the Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse, 1100 N. Unser St. in Mount Dora.

About two dozen of the King's hits are featured, including "Love Me Tender," "Blue Suede Shoes," "Devil in Disguise" and "Teddy Bear."

Set in a small Midwestern town in 1955, the plot is about Chad, a hunky biker who hits town, attracts the attention of local tomboyish grease monkey Natalie, and spreads magic and romance and the transformative power of rock 'n' roll.

Additional performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 p.m. Aug. 9.

•The Bay Street Players' Young People's Theater will present Disney's award-winning musical "Aladdin Jr." at the State Theatre, 109 N. Bay St., Eustis.

The play is based on familiar Arabian Nights episodes. The title character is an orphan boy who, with the help of a genie from a magic lamp, wins the hand of Princess Jasmine, the sultan's daughter.

The production includes the numbers "A Whole New World" (Aladdin's Theme) and "A Friend Like Me."

Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.
