The Florida International Piano Competition gives Central Floridians brings pianist Leonidas Lipovetsky to Orlando on Saturday, June 15, for a concert of Beethoven sonatas.
A native of Uruguay, Lipovetsky is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City. He has toured the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, Central and South America and the People's Republic of China.
Before retiring, he was a longtime professor in the School of Music at Florida State University.
On Saturday, Lipovetsky will perform Beethoven's:
• Piano Sonata No.1 in F minor, Op.2 No. 1 (1795)
• Piano Sonata No. 18 in E Flat Major, Op. 31 No. 3 "The Hunt" (1802)
• Piano Sonata No.12 in A flat Major, Op. 26 "Funeral March" (1800-1801)
• Piano Sonata No. 21 in C Major, Op. 53 "Waldstein" (1804)
The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins St., Orlando.
