He hadn’t even written it as of Friday but guaranteed his speech, if he won, would come from the heart.
Upon winning the award, Winston headed for the stage and took a piece of paper out of his jacket. Seemingly choked up himself, his speech – coming less than two weeks after finding out he would not be charged in relation to a sexual assault investigation – evoked a powerful reaction from his parents and FSU coach Jimbo Fisher, who were seen crying.

The speech, ended with a phrase Winston used in a pregame address to his teammates versus Clemson: “It means so much to me, but I've got one thing to say…At Florida State, if we're going to do it then, we do it big then.”
