That’s why it’s called home-field advantage. Go figure. LSU looked horrible for three straight weeks, but the Tigers managed to out-play South Carolina and Steve Spurrier for a 23-21 victory. It was LSU's 22nd consecutive win in Death Valley.

Florida is playing old school football. During back-to-back weeks, the Gators have relied heavily on their defense to hold down opponents while the offense grinds out wins with a heavy dose of running game. It may not be pretty, but it’s getting the job done for Will Muschamp.

West Virginia went from contender to pretender. The Mountaineers looked overmatched in all facets of the game against Texas Tech, giving up 49 points and more than 600 yards of total offense. Even Heisman Trophy candidate Geno Smith looked like a mere mortal during the loss.

As Collin Klein goes, so does Kansas State. The Wildcats quarterback has accounted for more than 65 percent of his team’s offense and several times, including Saturday, he has lifted his team onto his shoulders and led them to victory.

The seat is blazing hot for Gene Chizik. It’s hard to imagine a program taking such a huge step back in such a short amount of time, but that’s what’s happened at Auburn. The Tigers are 22 months removed from a national title, but they appear to be headed for their first losing season since 2008.

They should change it to Red River Rout. Seriously, this series has been anything but a rivalry in recent years. Oklahoma pounded Texas 63-21 Saturday. During the past two seasons, the Sooners have outscored the Longhorns 118-38. Both games were complete blowouts.

Better luck next time Tar Heels. Much like Ohio State and Penn State, North Carolina is playing some of its best football despite being handicapped by a postseason bowl ban. With wins over Virginia Tech and Miami, UNC would have competed for the ACC Coastal Division title. Instead, it must be satisfied playing spoiler.

Let’s hear it for the Big East. Louisville, Rutgers and Cincinnati are all undefeated and all ranked, making the Big East one of only three conferences to have at least two undefeated teams in the standings. The others are the Southeastern Conference and the Pac-12.

In-N-Out burgers must be pretty good. Oregon State’s Mike Riley has treated his players to the tasty treats after several big wins this season, including the Beavers victory over BYU Saturday on the road. If it works, why break tradition?

They don’t call it luck of the Irish for nothing. Notre Dame has relied on its stout defense all season long and Saturday was no exception. The Fighting Irish used a goal-line stand in overtime to stop Stanford and remain undefeated.
