Favorite TV series this week will expand and contract in ways guaranteed to keep viewers guessing. A dozen programming tips:

1. "The Voice" takes over all of NBC's Monday lineup. A recap special at 8 p.m. is followed by two hours at 9 p.m. of the Top 10 performing. ("The Blacklist" is preempted this week.) The results will be announced at 9 p.m. Tuesday.

2. "Dancing With the Stars" adds Maksim Chmerkovskiy as a guest judge at 8 p.m. Monday on ABC. He should make fascinating company for Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli. The dance contest is down to the last five celebrities. Will Amber Riley's knees hold up? Could Bill Engvall make it to the end? The season finale airs Nov. 25 and 26, when the winner will be named. The other remaining celebrities are Jack Osbourne, Leah Remini and Corbin Bleu, the favorite.

3. Allison Janney gives another bravura comedy performance as Bonnie on "Mom" at 9:30 p.m. Monday on CBS. Bonnie falls off the wagon, which allows Janney to range from poignant to outrageous. Bonnie's hair gives a memorable performance, too.

4. Emily Wickersham becomes a series regular on "NCIS" at 8 p.m. Tuesday on CBS. She plays analyst Ellie Bishop, who is described as a brilliant and determined analyst. But what will she mean to the ratings of TV's most-watched drama?

5. Thanksgiving dinner is served and family secrets will be spilled on "The Middle," at 8 p.m. Wednesday on ABC. Marsha Mason and Jerry Van Dyke return as the parents of Frankie (Patricia Heaton). Jack McBrayer ("30 Rock") plays Frankie's boss.

6. The Top 10 acts perform on "The X Factor" at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Fox. Those acts include two from Central Florida: Lillie McCloud and the duo Alex & Sierra. One Direction performs on the results show at 8 p.m. Thursday.

7. Cam takes Mitch and Lily to the Tucker family farm on "Modern Family" at 9 p.m. Wednesday on ABC. Problems arise when Grams drops in, and Grams is played by Ann Guilbert, who was Millie on "The Dick Van Dyke Show."

8. "The Big Bang Theory" sets Thanksgiving at Mrs. Wolowitz's house at 8 p.m. Thursday on CBS. Sheldon is not happy. CBS hints that Leonard and Penny must deal with an error from her past. What could that be?

9. Thanksgiving on "The Michael J. Fox" means big guest stars. Candice Bergen and Charles Grodin plays the star's parents at 9:30 p.m. Thursday on NBC.

10. Cyrus is determined to bring down Sally Langston on "Scandal" at 10 p.m. Thursday on ABC. The episode has an unusual title: "Vermont Is for Lovers Too."

11. "Nikita" returns to The CW lineup at 9 p.m. Friday with a six-episode run that will conclude the series. Nikita (Maggie Q) has her hands full with trying to clear herself after being framed with assassinating the president.

12. Carol Burnett plays McGarrett's Aunt Deb on "Hawaii Five-O" at 9 p.m. Friday on CBS. She is visiting for Thanksgiving, and she has what CBS calls a shocking secret. Don't you hate those at Thanksgiving?
