Check out the new lion cubs at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Who wants some meat cake? Well, some lions might, and that's just what the folks at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay cooked up for their pride to celebrate World Lion Day.

On Saturday, the special cake will be fed to the newest lions, Kembe, Shtuko and Shaba, during a scheduled afternoon appearance. There will be cake of the non-meat variety for guests too as well as keeper talks and lion-themed activities for children on Saturday.

On Sunday, the cubs are scheduled for a monrning appearance and in the afternoon, the park will celebrate the birthdays of the females, Iris and Rose, who are turning 7 later in the week, and will share the celebration with male lion Simon, who turned 7 earlier this year.

What do lions get for their seventh birthday? Paper-mache antelope, wrapped presents and meat ice pops. Mmmmmm.

World Lion Day is actually Friday, Aug. 10. According to the website (worldlionday.com), it's "the first global campaign to celebrate the importance of the lion worldwide. Since the dawn of man the lion has played an integral role in our lives: symbolically, religiously, culturally, economically and biologically. To lose the lion from our world would be to lose part of our global heritage."
