It's reported that Andrew Garfield was supposed to present at the Academy Awards with Batkid, but had a tantrum over his lines, and snubbed the 5-year-old cancer patient of a chance to present. Is Spider-Man a jerk? Or is it a web of lies?
According to PageSix.com, Garfield was suppose to the take the stage at last Sunday's Academy Awards accompanied by Scott, cancer patient who stole the hearts of America after the city of San Francisco let him play superhero for a day.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences had an arrangement to make Miles an official superhero during Sunday's ceremony, and Garfield was to appoint Miles as "Batkid."
But in dress rehearsal, Garfield decided he didn't like his lines, a source told Page Six.
“Garfield refused to go by the script. He came up with his own lines. The producers felt that Garfield's [rewrites] were not appropriate," the source said. "Garfield had a tantrum. He stormed off. Miles and his family, who were at the rehearsal, were devastated.”
'Captain America' actor Chris Evans introduced a heroes segment instead, but Miles never made it on camera.
