Carly Jo Jackson: Charismatic Girl Sings "Next To Me" Cover - America's Got Talent 2014
UPDATED: Orlando singer Carly Jo Jackson didn't have a lot of time on Tuesday's edition of "America's Got Talent."
But it was choice time. Jackson performed "Next to Me," and Howard Stern raved about her look, charisma and name.
"You walked out on the stage, and I was rooting for you right away," Stern told Jackson, adding that she was moving to the next round.
Jackson said she wanted to get out of the cafe scene and play before bigger audiences. (Another Orlando act, Extreme Dance Company, moved on to the next round last week.)
The NBC talent contest was the most-watched show Tuesday in Central Florida with 204,949 viewers.
The World Cup continued to draw big audiences locally. The Brazil-Mexico match had 91,448 viewers on ESPN and 43,220 on Univision. The Russia-South Korea match had 82,218 viewers on ESPN and 27,804 on Univision. The Belgium-Algeria match attracted 49,815 viewers on ESPN and 20,222 on Univision.
In national ratings, "America's Got Talent" was the night's biggest show with 11.4 million viewers, according to updated ratings. "Night Shift" won the 10 p.m. time slot with 6.3 million viewers. CBS offered the strongest competition with "NCIS" (7.8 million), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (6.4 million) and "Person of Interest" (5.1 million). ABC's best was "Extreme Weight Loss" with 3.1 million viewers.
The prime-time averages: NBC with 9.7 million viewers, CBS with 6.4 million, ABC with 2.9 million, Fox with 1.2 million and The CW with 580,000. NBC easily won the 18-to-49 age group.
