Apopka's super soph RB Quay Barnes shines in victoryApopka Coach Rick Darlington wasn't exactly ecstatic about his team's overall performance in the Blue Darters' 34-10 win over South Lake Friday.
But it was hard for anyone in attendance not to appreciate sophomore RB Quay Barnes individual efforts in the victory.
Barnes accounted for three scores Friday and is turning a lot of heads in the recruiting world though he's still a year removed from truly being courted by potential schools.
Barnes had scoring runs of 25 and 4 yards and also caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from steadily improving QB Keon Brooks, who is getting more comfortable running Apopka's offense. It is Barnes' second straight week with solid numbers. He had 103 rushing yards on 10 carries in the Darters' win over rival Edgewater last week.
