Dr. Phillips' wide receiver Kenny Shaw had one of his biggest games of the season Friday night in the Panthers' 41-7 victory over West Orange, then headed to the University of Georgia this weekend for his scheduled visit with the Bulldogs.
It is the second of four visits he has lined up.
Florida State game in Gainesville on Thanksgiving weekend. The game is Nov. 28.
"I am looking at the schools that can throw the ball at least 40 times a game," Shaw said. "All my schools are going to throw the ball a lot."
Shaw, 6-1, 175, caught five passes for 108 yards against West Orange, including a 50-yard touchdown reception. Statistically, he is regarded among Central Florida's top receivers. He has 453 yards receiving on 28 receptions and seven TDs this year. Last year he caught 64 passes.
Shaw's status as a receiver grew during this past summer. He is considered a rangy receiver who also runs accurate routes and has good hands. On his 50-yard TD reception, he used his speed to get separation from his defender. He was at least two strides behind the secondary on a post pattern and caught the pass in stride.
As for making a final decision on where he will play in college, don't expect anything soon.
Shaw wants to take his time to mull over his options, but he said he will make a decision sometime before NCAA National Signing Day in February.
"I am going to make a decision no later than Feb 4," Shaw said. "I am going to do it sometime before Signing Day."
