Deluzio, Peoples make 2A all-state team

First Academy guard Alexa Deluzio was named to the Class 2A all-state girls basketball team for the second consecutive year. Deluzio, a senior, was also joined on the first-team by newcomer Cassie Peoples of Father Lopez.

Deluzio, a 5-foot-9 senior, averaged 20.4 points and 2.9 assists to lead her team to the region finals. Before the 2007-08 season, the Florida State-bound guard helped the Royals to two consecutive state championships.

Peoples, a freshman, averaged 24 points, five steals, five assists, and was selected first team All-Central Florida, as well asVolusia County's player of the year.

Her teammate Samantha Harvey was a Class 2A honorable mention. Vosha Gordon of DeLand Lighthouse Christian was a Class 1A third-team selection.
