Orange County detectives say they have solved the mystery of who killed a woman whose body was found near Eatonville.
Alan John Jett, 40, was arrested on a murder charge just as deputies were about to execute a search warrant at his home, which is near where Lashanda Brand's body was found June 22.
Brand's body was found near Forest City Road and Kennedy Boulevard, just west of Eatonville. The Sheriff's Office in a news release said the body was on the side of the road. Earlier reports said it was in a wooded area. They did not say whether they think Brand was killed at that location or dumped there later.
Detectives would not say what relationship, if any, Jett had with Brand, who was in her early 20s. Nor would they say how she was killed or why they think Jett is the killer -- only that the death was violent.
Investigators identified Brand after they released photos of numerous, distinctive tattoos on her arms and legs. Fingerprints also were found on the body, a detective said.
